Eric R. Westervelt received the B.S. degree in computer and systems engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 1997 and 2003, respectively.  From 2003 to 2007 he was an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University. Since 2008 he has been a Control Systems Engineer in the Electronics and Control Systems Group at the GE Global Research Center, Niskayuna, NY.  His research interests include the theory and practice of control as applied to mechanical systems.  He has expertise in bipedal robots, lower-limb prosthetics, hybrid electric vehicle drivelines, and HVAC systems.  He is former co-directory of the Locomotion And Biomechanics Lab with Jim Schmiedeler.
